Bloomburg Bloomsburg University Acceptance Program

Allentown School District (ASD), Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC), and Bloomsburg University (BU) have partnered to offer guaranteed admission for ASD students to Bloomsburg University, Bloomsburg, PA

Through the Bloomsburg Initiative, students have two options for admission:

  1. Direct admission to Bloomsburg University
  2. Through attending Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) – participate in LCCC Dual Enrollment courses while in high school, attend LCCC and after successfully completion of the LCCC program, ASD students will be offered a guaranteed admission at BU based on established academic criteria.

Our students will be guaranteed admission, and will have their application fee waived, into a Bachelor’s Degree program at Bloomsburg University, on the condition that they achieve/complete the following:

For most majors

  • Graduate from ASD and achieve a minimum 450 Critical Reading and 450 Math score on the SAT.
  • Earn a minimum of 3.2 cumulative grade point average (GPA) at ASD.
  • Apply to and be accepted at BU no later than December 15 of the students’ senior year at ASD, to seek admission for future enrollment at BU. Satisfy all other BU application requirements to the major.

For Chemistry, Physics, Engineering Technology, Geoscience, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Digital Forensics majors

  • Graduate from ASD and achieve a minimum 500 Critical Reading and 500 Math score on the SAT.
  • Earn a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA at ASD.
  • Earn a minimum grade of “B” in the following courses or course options at ASD or at LCCC while dually enrolled in high school or after high school graduation while in attendance at LCCC: Biology, Chemistry or Physics, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry or Pre-Calculus.
  • Apply to and be accepted at BU no later than December 15 of the students’ senior year at ASD, to seek admission for future enrollment at BU. Satisfy all other BU application requirements to the major.

For any Allied Health or Biology majors, to include Nursing, Medical Imaging, Biology and Allied Health Majors, American Sign Language (ASL) and Speech Pathology

  • Graduate from ASD and achieve a minimum of 500 Critical Reading and 520 Math score on the SAT.
  • Earn a minimum of 3.8 cumulative GPA at ASD.
  • Earn a minimum grade of “B” in the following courses or course options at ASD or at LCCC while dually enrolled in high school or after high school graduation while in attendance at LCCC: Biology, Chemistry, Algebra 2, and Geometry.
  • Apply to and be accepted at BU no later than November 15 of the students’ senior year at ASD, to seek admission for future enrollment at BU. Satisfy all other BU application requirements to the major.

Apply to and be accepted at LCCC as a Dual Enrollment student while attending high school

  • LCCC admission requirements will apply to each student applicant. At the time of admission to LCCC, BU will conditionally admit the student to BU if the student completes a letter of intent to a comparable major at BU, graduates from LCCC, and adheres to the academic standards established for admission to BU as part of this agreement. Upon high school graduation at ASD, continue in pursuit of an Associate Degree (A.A. or A.S.) major at LCCC. Graduate from LCCC with an Associate Degree and a minimum 2.0 GPA. Certain programs at Bloomsburg University require a minimum GPA. of 2.5 or 3.0.
