About Newcomer Academy

Students and families new to the United States should first go to their nearest neighborhood school to enroll with the Allentown School District. You can locate your neighborhood school using My School Locator. 

Enrollment Information

Students qualify for placement at Secondary Newcomer Academy based on the results of the following:

  • Home language survey
  • WIDA Screener
  • US Entry Date
  • No previous US school experience

Curriculum

Students who attend Secondary Newcomer Academy will receive courses in:

  • English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses
  • Middle and High School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra and Geometry courses
  • Environmental Science, Physical, Science and Biology courses
  • United States History, American Government and Social Studies Courses

  • Enrichment clubs and activities
  • Tutoring and Interventions
  • Parental involvement activities
  • Technology across the curriculum
